Works to securise the landslide area have been completed. We therefore have the pleasure to announce the reopening of the Montenvers train, as from Thursday, July 1st. The site will be fully open.

Chamonix - a fabulous playground for children
Childhood memories of mountain escapades remain with us for life and what better place than Chamonix to discover Mother Nature in all her splendour? The resort offers countless sports and adventure activities and a wide choice of cultural entertainments for all ages. Who looks after children in Chamonix?
A list of babysitters is available from the Chamonix and Argentière tourist offices.La Maison pour Tous - All the year
A weekly programme is established and adapted to children's ages. Different themes are developed each week and include: arts, sciences, sports and nature activities...
Daily inscriptions are possible subject to availability.
The Pelerins centre welcomes small children aged 3 to 5 years.
The Chamonix centre welcomes children aged 6 to 11 years.
Please book at the welcome desk of the MJC from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon and from 3pm to 6pm.
New : « Piou Piou » club
From 3 years old, the « Piou Piou » fclub welcomes you in it's day care center, located near the town center.

For children from 6 to 12 years
Sports weeks are organised throughout the summer. Inscriptions on a weekly or daily basis, subject to availability : tennis, volley, gym, hiking, swimming, outdoor activities...
Please book at the welcome desk of the MJC from Monday to Friday from 9am to 12 noon and from 3pm to 6pm.
The Ski Schools - Winter
The french ski schools in both Chamonix and Argentière and the Panda Club in Argentière welcome children from 3 years upwards. Qualified instructors will take care of your little ones for full or half-days: ski lessons, lunch, games and supervision
Children at altitude :
precautionary measures
Certain precautions should be taken when gaining altitude with young children. It is not advisable to take children under 3 years of age to above 2000 metres altitude.
Between 3 and 12 years of age, avoid long, sustained physical effort at over 2500 metres.
From 12 to 18 years of age physical effort above 4000 metres is not advisable.
Some advice, applicable whatever the season :
Avoid using the cable cars if your children are full of cold or have sinus problems.
Be wary of the sun's rays: make sure your children wear sunglasses and sun block.
Make sure they drink plenty and often.
Some advice for the winter season:
Protect children from the wind and cold Avoid walking or skiing for any length of time with a child in a back-pack as they get cold very quickly due to their immobility. Whatever the childs age, they should wear a helmet whilst skiing Make sure your child always wears sunblock and sunglasses or goggles the sun's rays can be strong, even when you least expect it.
